“ Nestled in the middle of actual neighborhood is this gem of an eatery that we have made one of our haunts. I have been there for quick breakfast before hitting the road and dinner with partners and family. Neither time did it disappoint. The service can be a bit spotty in the morning and during shift change but I blame that on the never ending rotation of service industry talent I have seen in this city. The food has always been an experience and delightful at a reasonable price. Consider that we only eat seafood, it is often trying to find selections in a meat and potatoes type of area. This particular time we had a party of three and I settled for a lighter fare of mussels and pomme frites (fries) and a glass of wine. My usual late dinner selection which rang in at about $30-35 in total. The other party had the house made ravioli entree which was roughly $30, while our other dinner guest chose the skate fish entree which was about the same price. Fair warning that skate is an acquired taste which she soon found out and I am interested in knowing why it is being pushed even in the grocery stores. It is a thinner, oily fish that is not as fleshy as other choices. We ended up sharing a bit of our plates with each other as the night went on and had great conversation without interruption from other loud guests or children. A plus in my book! Dinner with drinks and all the fixings will run you a pretty penny so this will be a date night or night out selection. Please come dressed and ready to have an experience. ”
“ This place may be one of the best restaurants I've been to in a while!! The ambience as soon as you walk in was amazing. I'm someone who really only likes to sit at the bar bc I feel like you miss out on the atmosphere of a restaurant when you are sat at a bad table so I'd rather be in the middle of everything and at the bar! As soon as we walked in I was excited we had an actual reservation and got to sit at a table bc this place is so charming anywhere you sit you are still in the heart and soul of the restaurant. We did wait a minute before sitting at our table and grabbed a drink at the bar. The bartender made me one of the best dirty martinis I've had in awhile (I have a lot too). The blue cheese olives were so fresh and martini wasn't too dirty!! Just how I love it! Next up the food they started off by giving us free focaccia bread with a cheese olive oil and marinara dipping sauce. Sooooo good!!! Next we ordered the half village salad and it was huge perfect size to split along with the clam chowder soup recommended to us. We both had never had clam chowder and it was so yummy with 8 clams on top!! For entrees I got the chicken thighs. They were like yet crispy and the couscous was cheesy and then the figs made it all come together!! My husband got the hanger steak it was PERFECTLY cooked the sauce was delicious and the fries were yummy! We can't believe we had never been and can't wait to go back! ”
“ Cozy evening in a great little place in German Village. The restaurant has amazing ambiance, perfect setting for a quite and relaxing date night. We made a reservation and waited a few minutes to be seated as our table was not available yet. Service was attentive and pleasant. They serve focaccia with marinara sauce for the table and we had both Brussel sprouts and fried risotto balls for appetizers. Portions were huge and everything tasted delicious. We shared a salad with grilled salmon that was also super tasty. Make sure to make a reservation since the place is small and is always full. They also have seats outside if the weather is good. Can't wait to be back for lunch or brunch on the weekends. ”
“ I can't believe this was my first visit to the Sycamore! Vibes were great on a Tuesday for dinner. We made a reservation just in case because it's a small space, but it was not overly busy. The drinks were amazing, we loved our cocktails! The hangar steak was cooked perfectly and the pine nut ravioli was an interesting try. Service was fantastic and we had a great dinner overall. Next time I definitely plan on dining on the patio, with my dog - check out the framed photos in the bathroom! ”
“ Food/drinks: Drinks are great here, the carrot appetizer was delicious, and I really enjoyed the Vegetable Tangine. The burger was average, and the artichokes weren't cooked well this time around. Service was good Great GV ambience with brick walls, booths, and a bar. Indoor/outdoor seating options ”
“ The food here was so delicious! I got the Sycamore Salad with Salmon and a Burger. The salad had so many different toppings that blended so well together. The salmon was cooked perfectly and was very flaky. The burger was so juicy and flavorful. It was a little pricey for lunch. The salad with salmon was $24. As far as service, you order at the counter and they bring the food to you. There wasn't a waiter that stopped by to ask if you needed anything. The ambiance was so cute and the restaurant was in a great location with plenty of street parking. I went for lunch during the week and it wasn't packed at all. ”
“ Been meaning to come here for a while, just didn't have the chance. Had a little time today and wanted a bagel and lox, and they have one, so I swung in. Cool building, old but freshened up with plenty of windows and a nice interior, you can thankfully still see most of the original structure. Small, but plenty of seating options with booths, tables, and the bar. A fairly small menu too, but an interesting one. There's the lox, other breakfast type items, salads, and an assortment of interesting burgers. And it looks like they make or bring in pastries and other smaller breakfast items. Also, they have some very interesting housemade drinks. The bagel was great. Lightly toasted, crunchy and yet soft. Loads of good salmon on top, and capers, and cream cheese. Plenty for a light lunch. The lemonade was excellent. Pricey, perhaps, at six dollars, but they refilled it for free. And to put it in perspective, I spent six dollars on a K-pop branded latte yesterday that was half the size and half as good. Service is minimal but great. Prices are reasonable for the quantity and quality. I wanted something good but quick and I got it; I was out of there in half an hour. I will definitely be back. ”
“ We stopped in this cute little restaurant as a recommendation from a friend. The ambiance is really great. We sat at the bar because we didn't make a reservation. The bartender was attentive and knowledgeable. My friend and I shared the short rib ragu and the ravioli. The short rib ragu far exceeded my expectations. It was so salty, and delicious. It had a lot of shredded short rib-- fat removed and mixed with the creamy pasta with it was great. The combination of the ingredients had me Worried but it was soooo good. The ravioli was fine. It was very lack luster. I wouldn't order again. For a drink I got the Italian 90. It was light and not too sweet. I would definitely return ”
“ Oh, why can there not be more than five stars! This place nailed it. The staff was friendly. The prices were extremely reasonable. Ordering was easy. No reservations were needed. The original brick walls were exposed adding character and charm to the European farmhouse feel of the shop. Oh, I will be back-- FOR SURE! We ordered a drip coffee, a buckwheat honey vanilla latte, and two egg sandwiches. The drip came quick. The honey latte somehow didn't hit the baristas screen and I had a tiny wait for it, but the moment it was brought to her attention she prioritized it and it came next... and, wowzers.... Worth the wait! so no complaints on the tiny hiccup. The egg sandwich. Omg it is 7 bucks! A great value compared to the competition. The flavor of every element shines through and is worth mentioning. The egg is light, fluffy, not crumbly so it doesn't flop out of the sandwich. The herbs they use in the egg is perfectly balanced and adds to the flavor vs overtaking the egg. I swear I taste Creme Faiche.(which may be why I love this). The cheddar they used isn't too strong so it doesn't over take the egg. The candied bacon is cooked perfectly. The fresh ciabatta bread is soft and not hard/chewy, so was the perfect choice to serve this sandwich. Definitely, is in the top ten of egg sandwiches I have ordered, ever. A+ Sycamore. There wasn't anything you could have done better. We left happy and full. ”
“ Breakfast at the Sycamore on a lazy Thursday morning. They have excellent food choices, but the egg sandwich stands out for me. Plenty of good coffee choices too, and their Cortado is one of the best in the city. Walkup, order, and pay; then they deliver to your table. Beautiful bathrooms thanks for that. No problem with street parking at breakfast and lunch. ”
